A Note from the Founder

Hello, I'm Charles.

I've lived in Highgate since 2014, and have spent the last two years working in private childcare and property management for families across North London. The work taught me what professional households expect: punctuality, discretion, and care for the things that matter to them.

At home I have two cats, Ingmar and Annika, from Fårö in Sweden.(meet them)

I cycle everywhere on a Cowboy e-bike. I know the back routes from Highgate to Hampstead, the quieter corners of the Heath, the cut-throughs that miss the school traffic, and the lanes that stay clear when the main roads don't. Visits arrive on time regardless of weather or congestion, and the same person, on the same bicycle, turns up at your door every time.

Every booking is handled by me personally. No subcontractors, no group walks, no surprises.

The Standards

How I work.

Five principles I commit to from the first visit. They are how I would want my own pets cared for.

i.

One-to-one only

Your dog is the only dog on the walk. No pack walks, no shared cars. Full attention, every time.

ii.

The same person, every visit

No subcontractors or last-minute substitutions. The hand on the lead is always mine.

iii.

Discreet key handling

Keys are coded, never labelled with your address, and stored securely. Returned on request, immediately.

iv.

Proactive communication

You receive a photo, GPS map, and short note after every visit, without needing to ask.

v.

Honest pricing

One transparent rate per service. No surcharges for weekends, weather, or distance within the service area.

Frequently Asked

Questions, answered plainly.

Do you walk dogs in groups?

No. Every walk is solo, one-to-one. This is the central principle of Bramble & Hound and is not negotiable. It ensures full attention, complete control of the lead, and no risk of incidents between unfamiliar dogs.

How are keys handled?

Keys are tagged with a coded reference, never labelled with your name or address, and stored securely. They can be returned at any time, on request, with no questions asked.

Do you charge extra for weekends or bad weather?

No. There is one rate per service, regardless of day, weather, or distance within the stated service area.

Will I receive updates during the walk?

Yes. A photo, a GPS map of the route, and a short note are sent after every single visit, without exception. You are never left wondering where your pet is.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Regular weekly slots are best secured a week or two ahead. Drop-in visits and holiday cover are most reliable when booked at least one week in advance, but short-notice requests are accommodated where possible.

Do you take on reactive or anxious dogs?

Yes, and the one-to-one model is particularly well suited to them. Each case is discussed honestly before any commitment is made, to ensure a sensible match.

How long are the introductory rates available?

While a local portfolio is being established. Once secured, rates are honoured for the duration of any client's engagement, even after standard pricing resumes for new bookings.
